Sky-Balls and Sun tans in Siesta!
Posted on 18 June 2013
With blue skies and a cool breeze it was a beautiful weekend for volleyball at Siesta Key Beach. As Dig the Beach’s third stop in the series, the it was lit up by sky-ball serves, brutal blocks, and some sensational defense.
Over the two days the Rox Volleyball tent stayed full with beach goers, spectators, and athletes to watch these intense games. As usual, our Rox Volleyball athletes came to play and showed off their talent in some tight, point-for-point games. Rox Pro athletes and partners, Kristen Batt and Raquel Ferreira, pushed their limits as they sought to defeat Tara Kuk and Priscilla Lima in the Open finals on Sunday. Though falling short in the end, they proved why they are seen as Pros. With all the faith in our athletes, we know there will be a different ending in the next stop of the series!
On the men’s side we saw Rox Pro, Adrian Carambula, pull out his sky-ball serves while partner, Rodrigo Saunders, mighty blocks sent the other teams heading for home. In the intense 3 game semi-final match against Tyler Lesneski and England Olympian Steve Grotowski, Adrian and Rodrigo pulled it off ending with a nail-biting 13-15 point game. They defeated partners, Piotr Marciniak and Matt Henderson, to take home the winning check!
